On 1 December 2013 the Industrial Relations Act 1999 [the Act] was amended to provide for the modernisation of Queensland Awards.
On 20 July 2015 the Minister, pursuant to section 140CA(1) of the Industrial Relations Act 1999, requested the Vice-President of the Commission to recommence the award modernisation process in accordance with a revised Variation Notice and new Consolidated Request, both dated 17 July 2015. This followed amendments to the Act passed by Parliament on 4 June 2015 and assented to on 11 June 2015.
The SOU Executive have been engaged in the Award Modernisation process since 2015 with the process being completed in February 2017.
On the 6th March 2017 the SOU was informed that the QIRC Full Bench had released the modernised QUEENSLAND FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICE EMPLOYEES AWARD ‒ STATE 2016.
